What's in a Name?
I began practicing earth-based spirituality in 1987. As part of my religious tradition, I took a special name to reflect the direction of my personal growth. Sage WynterFox is the spiritual name I use in sacred space and when I practice the intuitive arts. It reminds me of my identity as a spiritual being, allowing me to consciously access my intuition to share with others. It is also the business name I use for this part of my professional life. Outside of our reader/client relationship you can call me Deb.
Sage was my first name as I began my spiritual journey. I resonated with the qualities of the sage we burned during rituals. Sage produces an unapologetically bold smoke that vibrates with truth and integrity. People either love or hate the smell of sage, and people either love or hate my uncompromising commitment to truth-telling.
Wynter honors the special magic and meaning of winter, a season of sharp contrasts. Wynter means born in the winter, and I was born just before the winter solstice. Winter is the season of occasional snow in my latitude. Falling snow evokes in me pure joy that I can scarcely contain. I also deeply value the brooding mood of winter and the introspection fostered by the silence and the dark.
Fox reflects my strong, inexplicable affinity for foxes. In many cultures fox is seen as the trickster or as a shapeshifter, while to others it represents positive transformation. Fox has visited me in powerful dreams, and has guided me through significant changes as I have stretched and grown.
